Kasama Small Batch 7yr Rum

Kasama is the "Sunshine Spirit." Crafted with care and infused with island optimism. This new rum is additive free and distilled in the Philippines from 100% Noble cane juice. Sugarcane is seasonally harvested between October and May in the fields surrounding the distillery, pressed on site and distilled in a copper column still. Aged for seven years in ex-bourbon American oak barrels, it is bottled without the use of flavorings, sugars or coloring of any kind. Sugarcane is native to southeast Asia and grows well in the Philippines' rich, volcanic soil. The Philippines is one of the largest rum producers in the world and while the distiller of this product is cannot be disclosed, it should be considered on par with the great Spanish style rums of the Caribbean and Central America. Kasama is family owned and operated by female founder, Alexandra Dorda. Alexandra comes from a family of distillers, her father owning a prominent Polish vodka brand, but it is the product of her motherland that she's chosen to make her own. A truly unique expression from a country that doesn't export much to the States. The few expression we do see are often laden with additives and sweetners, masking the true character of this unique regions rum. Expect flavors of pungent tropical fruit, toasted vanilla bean and baking spice, but without any cloying texture or artificial after taste.
